Repeating or Copying a Journal

Acumen allows you to select any existing journal and duplicate it. This is normally done for standing journals where you use the standing journal list from the Journal List screen, but can be done with equal ease for any style of journal including Cheque journals.

To copy a journal select the journal and view it on the Journal screen. Press the repeat button and the entire contents of the journal, postings and all, will be repeated on a new journal number. When repeating a journal the new journal is given the current period by default. You can of course alter this along with any other details and add or delete postings.

When you repeat a standing journal the new journal is not marked as standing. If you want the new journal to become the standing journal unmark the original standing journal before repeating it then mark the new journal as standing.

Be sure to change the description of the new journal so that when you next wish to locate this or the original journal you can tell them apart.
