Ignoring Later Deliveries
The user can choose to ignore later deliveries when a purchase order is being calculated. The effect of this is that when customer order requirements are being calculated no consideration is given to deliveries arriving after the delivery date for this purchase order. This will cause the system to purchase adequate stock to satisfy all customer orders within the period being purchased for, even though some stock may arrive on other deliveries during or after that period.
This can lead to overstocks where the stock arriving on later purchase orders was originally ordered to satisfy some of the customer orders now being purchased. It will keep customers happy as it will ensure prompt delivery, however it may result in doubling up on purchases of irregular stock that may be difficult to sell.
Use this facility with caution.
