Accounts

An account represents a type of ledger rather than the actual instance of a ledger. Account records describe the behaviour and relationship of ledger types. The collection of accounts records is often referred to as the chart of accounts.

When defining account codes there are two major decisions to be made. The first is the position of this account code in the hierarchy of sections. The second is the statement level and hence the parent child relationship this account will hold with other accounts.
