Ledger code Segments

To initiate the Acumen Ledger system it is necessary to define your ledger segments. Using the pulldown editor you can name each segment, its size and nature. Note that while the Account code segment is predefined and must be present you can still control its position, size and nature. The order of the pulldown list is the order that ledger codes will be presented in.

Once the segments are defined you can use the Segments screen to enter the lists of codes and names for each segment. The account code segment is not available from the segment list as accounts must be defined using the Accounts screen.

These lists will be the only valid values for each segment. No ledger code can be created for a segment value that is not a part of that segments list. These segment lists are used by Acumen to provide search and list facilities wherever users are requested to enter a ledger code.
