Spot Count
The beauty of a Spot Count is its simplicity. You go out and capture the actual count of stock for an area (eg. a shelf), and you load these counts to a Spot Count document. The very act of loading these items to the document captures the book figure for those goods. The variation is displayed immediately on the document. You need only verify this and update the document to correct the stock levels.
The only issue to look out for in Spot counts is where there is stock in more than one location. Unlike a full stocktake you cannot enter further counts to a separate Spot Count document. Each Spot Count document is a mini stocktake within itself. What you can do is add extra counts of an item to the end of the existing document (provided you haven't updated it yet). Acumen detects when the same item is loaded to a Spot count more than once and will only place the book figure against the first line entered for an item. This means that when the document is processed the stock is adjusted only by the difference between the book figure (Shown on the first line) and the sum total of the counts entered for that item (on all lines for that item for this document).
