Stock Control
While most businesses know the importance of controlling their stock, many find it a laborious and time consuming task that appears to offer little return. Acumen is designed to ease the pain of maintaining accurate stock control and maximise the benefits. Here are some of the ways in which Acumen assists you when you use the stock control system:
Current expected stock on hand available at all Points Of Sale, updated in real time in most cases.
Expected stock on hand for other branches (always available at head office and optionally at other branches).
Automated Picking of Customer Orders.
Recording of total picked goods and calculation of available (free) stock.
Automated Purchasing and Transferring of goods.
Automated Factory Orders for manufactured goods.
Detection and utilisation of overstocks.
Instant stock on hand valuation capability.
The key to stock control is to capture all movements of stock. Stock typically moves in one of the following ways:
Sales
Sales returns (Refunds and Credit Notes)
Usage (eg. in manufacture)
Purchases
Purchase Returns
Production (eg. in manufacture)
Adjustments (eg. Written off, Damages, Shrinkage, Liquidation, etc.)
Branch transfers
In order to effect the stock balance you must make a posting to one of the figures in the Stock On Hand equation. Acumen calculates Stock On Hand according to the following equation:
All of the figures in this equation represent year to date values. To explain this equation we will discuss what each of these figures represent.
