The ability to control the pricing of products is a particularly strong aspect of the Acumen system. Not only are a variety of methods offered for the pricing of sales but there are a number of facilities specially designed to ease the difficulty of maintaining such a complex price structure. This section discusses the various facilities provided along with their control and maintenance.
Throughout this manual you will hear reference to , and prices. You can nominate any textual description that you like to define these prices and these names will be used throughout the screens of Acumen wherever possible. It should be noted however that these manuals and some facilities such as reporting will refer to these names in particular. These are defined as follows:
This is the name used by these manuals to refer to the first of the 6 available category prices. This price always represents a Supplier/Industry standard selling price. The reason it is distinguished from the other categories is because it is always considered to be the highest price from which a discount may be applied and that it is the price most likely to be associated directly with Cost price by means of a mark up percentage.
This is the name used to describe the price considered to be the true gross cost of sale for this item. It is assumed that this is the price most commonly used for calculation of mark up percentages. This is the price that is placed on sales documents as the cost of goods sold.
This is the name given to the price that is nominated as the supplier invoice cost. This price is used on purchase orders and supplier invoice/credit notes. This price may be one and the same with cost price (ie. both names may be used to refer to the same category price). In a system where a supplier rebate scheme is in use this price will typically be the price directly before cost price.
Basically a customer's price for a product is selected as the lowest price of the following:
List price - this is the first price category and represents a standard sell price.
Category price - the product price for the category selected for this customer.
Customer Special Prices - the system searches for an entry in the special prices file for this individual customer.
Club Special Prices - if the current customer is a member of a Club then the special prices file is searched for a Club entry.
Sale Special Prices - the Special Prices file is searched for any active sale for the current product or group.
